The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has gone live with its Markets in Financial Instruments Directive/Regulation (MiFID/R) approved reporting mechanism service (ARM) in the UK, as firms look to leverage technology to comply with a swathe of new rules across jurisdictions.

Michele Hillery, Managing Director and Head of Repository and Derivatives Services at DTCC, told FOW the launch of the new service follows interest from clients in aggregating reporting requirements to make the process more efficient.

“Our UK ARM launch has been very much demand led, with clients telling DTCC that they would like us to participate in the UK ARM space,” Hillery said. “With the run of regulatory refits and rewrites behind us, we felt the timing was right for us to satisfy that demand.

“Clients will have the ability to consolidate reporting obligations with a trusted global provider rather than managing fragmented global arrangements.”

The UK MiFID ARM service went live on Monday, with analytics support including real-time trade reporting analytics such as smart tooling to assist with monitoring, controls and exception management.

The service will include a dedicated back-reporting channel with queuing and in-sequence processing to authorities, as well as a suite of end-of-day reports to facilitate timely issue resolution, according to details published by the firm.

“We are providing a modern UK ARM that embeds contemporary technologies, advances data access and provides functionalities such as scheduling, back-reporting and testing capabilities, all of which have been explicitly designed to reduce operational complexity,” Hillery added.

“It is extending all of those things that DTCC does so well into the MiFID reporting space.”

DTCC plans to expand the service to the EU in the fourth quarter, pending regulatory approval.
